CYCLIST is the name of a clinical trial that has enrolled recent recipients of an initial lung transplant. CYCLIST is currently the only Phase III clinical study in lung transplant evaluating the effect of an investigational drug on chronic rejection.
The goal of the CYCLIST trial is to determine if an investigational drug called cyclosporine inhalation solution (CIS) can safely reduce the occurrence of chronic rejection and extend life in lung transplant recipients. CIS is an inhaled form of cyclosporine, an oral medication that has been available for over twenty years to prevent rejection in transplant recipients. Inhaling cyclosporine provides a higher concentration of the drug directly in the lungs.
Participants who complete the CYCLIST research study have the opportunity to contribute to lung transplant medical research and to receive CIS at no financial cost for life as long as the drug is still under investigation or receives FDA approval.
Most of the major transplant centers in North America are participating in this important trial in lung transplant. Click here for a list of participating centers.
CYCLIST has completed enrollment and is not accepting new participants.
